Legacy in Sunset: Peterson's Upland Poultry Bids Farewell After a Century

After 114 years, Peterson’s Upland Poultry Farm in Wahiawa is saying goodbye. The family-owned farm, established in 1910 by James Peterson, recently announced its decision to close through social media.

The farm's egg operation located on Dole Road will cease poultry and egg sales by the end of February. Although faced with the difficulties of running a business in Hawaii, the farm surprisingly saw a significant increase in sales, with over 11,000 eggs sold on the first day of the announcement.

Sharon Peterson, mentioning rising operational expenses and business hurdles, expressed that it's time to move on. She is now eagerly anticipating the opportunity to spend more time as a full-time grandmother.
